According to Carrickfergus Borough’s Deputy Mayor, Councillor John Stewart: “Carrickfergus Borough Council is delighted that the prestigious Giro d’Italia cycle race will pedal through the Borough on the afternoon of Saturday 10 May.  We are looking forward to welcoming the riders and their entourages to our historic Borough and the impressive sight of Carrickfergus Castle will provide a fantastic backdrop.  Carrickfergus Borough Council is organising a number of events to coincide with the race and we hope that our local residents will come out to welcome the race as it passes through the Borough with as much enthusiasm as they did for the Olympic Torch in 2012.”
